Palestinian-Israeli Conflict Escalates: Over 40,000 Dead Since October
Gaza health officials have reported that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip has now climbed to 40,939. In the last two days alone, Israeli forces killed 61 people and left 162 others injured, according to the latest updates. This brings the total number of injured to 94,616 since the outbreak of the conflict in October of last year.
On Saturday, an airstrike hit the Halima al-Sa’diyya school in Jabalia, northern Gaza, killing eight people and injuring 15 more, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strike, stating that it was a targeted operation against militants who were using the school as part of a Hamas command center. The IDF described the site as crucial to Hamas’s military operations, which were aimed at attacking Israeli forces and civilians. The ongoing conflict escalated sharply following Hamas’s surprise attack on Israeli towns on October 7, 2023.
